Directions to Washington State

GETTING TO WASHINGTON STATE:

The state is located in the extreme northwest corner of the contiguous United States. It is bordered by Oregon to the south, Idaho to the east and the Canadian Province of British Columbia to the north. The western side of the state is bordered by the Pacific Ocean.

DRIVING: All areas of the state can be reached by major Interstates or good state roads. Running north-south through the western part of the state is Interstate 5 which comes from Oregon and continues up to British Columbia where it becomes Canadian Highway 99. Another north-south route is Interstate 82 from Hermiston, Oregon, up through the tri-cities of Pasco, Richland and Kennewick. It continues north through Yakima eventually becoming Highway 97 and crossing Wenatchee, Chelan and the Okanogan Valley before reaching Canada. Interstate 90 runs east-west in the almost center of the state coming from Idaho, through Spokane in Eastern Washington and terminating in Seattle to the west. Other east-west highways are Highway 12 in the southern part of the state and Highway 2 in the northern part.

FLYING: There are major international airports in the Seattle Tacoma area (Western Washington) and Spokane in eastern Washington. Access to the state is also easy from Portland International in Portland, Oregon, just across the river from Vancouver, Washington (not Vancouver, BC) in the southern part of the state and from Vancouver, BC just across the border from Blaine and Bellingham, Washington in the northern region of the state. There are also jet serviced airports in Wenatchee, Yakima and the Tri-Cities.

RAIL: Amtrak provides passenger rail service north-south through Seattle-Tacoma and east-west through Spokane to Seattle.

Directions to Leavenworth

DIRECTIONS TO LEAVENWORTH:

The Bavarian Village of Leavenworth is located in the middle of the state just over the Cascade Mountains from the major metroplitcan areas of Seattle and Everett. Lodging properties are stretched over a 30 mile area and can be approached from east, west or south. The directions to each area differ slightly and are summarized below.

Directions to Bavarian Village

FROM THE SEATTLE AREA:
- Get on Interstate 90 heading East
- Proceed up and over Snoqualmie Pass.
- Exit the Freeway at the town of Cle Elum
- Take Highway 97 towards Wenatchee.
- Follow 97 (Blewett Pass) to Highway 2 (about 65 miles)
- Take a LEFT onto Highway 2 towards Leavenworth.
- When you get to Leavenworth continue on the highway into the village central.

FROM NORTH OF SEATTLE:
- Go South on Interstate 5 toward Seattle.
- Just south of downtown Seattle, take Interstate 90 East.
- Proceed up and over Snoqualmie Pass

- Take Highway 97 towards Wenatchee.
- Follow 97 (Blewett Pass) to Hwy 2 (about 65 miles)

FROM SOUTH OF SEATTLE:
- Go North on Interstate 5 toward Seattle.
- Just South of downtown Seattle, take Interstate 90 East.

FROM EASTERN WASHINGTON:
- Get on Interstate 90 heading West
- Take exit #151 toward Quincy/Wenatchee. This will put you on Highway 28.
- Follow Highway 28 to Quincy.
- When you get to Quincy, take a LEFT and continue following Highway 28 West towards Wenatchee.
- When you get to Wenatchee continue on Highway 28 (about 5 miles).
- Take a LEFT onto Highway 2 and follow signs to Leavenworth. (You will cross the Columbia River.)
- Follow Highway 2 into Leavenworth. (about 22 miles)
- When you get to Leavenworth continue on the highway into the village central.

DIRECTIONS TO GRIZZLY HIDEAWAY CONDO (ALPINE VILLAGE #G3) FROM HIGHWAY 2:

** Prepare for Winter driving conditions: Always carry emergency supplies, including a snow shovel, in your vehicle and travel with chains and/or AWD. Consult the WSDOT website for travel advisories and restrictions before your trip**

- Take a RIGHT onto Icicle Road from US HWY 2 (You will see a 76 gas station on the corner).
- Proceed ½ block and turn LEFT onto Alpine Place.
- The condominiums are on the right hand side.
- The complex is called "Alpine Village"
- Turn RIGHT into the condo parking lot and park in the space corresponding to Unit 3G.
- Proceed to building G, and enter your unit.
